Kisses + Disses: Computer Meltdowns & Red Fossil Watches

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

My birthday was almost a month ago and I got this really nice watch from Sam. I’ve wanted to photograph it since I got it but I kept forgetting. Anyway, I finally got around to it. I LOVE this watch. It is red after all (if you didn’t already know it’s my favorite color). I wear it everyday despite Sam’s insistence that I shouldn’t. Sorry babe… at least you know that I really like it! :-) Anywho, this leads me to my first ever installment of Kisses and Disses.

Disses…

- Computer meltdowns. How am I suppose to do work without a properly functioning computer? Which leads me to diss two…

- Doing “research” for a new computer. It’s all greek to me. I’ll figure it out.

- Rain. Seriously GA must it rain everyday?! The humidity is killing my hair :-(

Kisses…

+Red Fossil Watches :-)

+The premiere of the 2011 version of Thundercats. “THUNDERCATS HOOOOOOOO!!!!”

+Showiteers. Such a fabulous community of people!

The Adventures of Sam & Saadia: Captain D’s

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

Sam (my boyfriend) and I eat out a lot. Not because I don’t like to cook but mainly because it’s more convenient for us at the present moment. It also happens to be the time that we “bond.” Now, that’s not to say that we don’t bond over other activities it’s just that we really love food (we don’t discriminate either lol). I can’t think of any better way to enjoy a meal than sharing conversation with my best friend. We talk, we laugh, we fight (play fight that is), make jokes… we enjoy each other’s company. I take great joy in the fact that Sam and I communicate so well and whether he knows it our not… I look forward to our meals together.

Today we went to Captain D’s for a quick dinner. We talked and laughed then I gave Sam an impromptu photography lesson in the parking lot. As he snapped a few pictures of me, I attempted to explain the finer points of the exposure triangle. I discovered that I need to find a more effective way of explaining this stuff to him because I don’t believe I was doing a good job. I may have confused him with all the terminology (jargon as he calls it) but I think he retained some of it (I hope so anyway lol). I know some of my explanations were a little muddled. I’ll definitely make it clearer for his next lesson.

Atlanta Wedding Photography | Press Printed Album

Friday, July 29th, 2011

A few weeks ago I received my first press printed album. I was really excited to see how it turned out and I couldn’t have been more happy with the end results. These books are great for engagement albums because you can write directly on the pages of the book. I design it so that my clients can use it as a guestbook at their weddings. I just LOVE it when things can serve a dual purpose. I’m so excited to make more of these in the future. What do you guys think?

The Ties that Bind

Friday, July 15th, 2011

Life can be quite stressful sometimes. There is so much in this world that can bring you down. However, as a Christian, I turn to God and the word to provide me solace, peace, understanding, compassion, comfort. I’ve been deepening my relationship with God, connecting with him on a more intimate level, and as a result He has revealed some things to me. Now, I will be the first to admit that I sometimes struggle in my faith. It can be hard to see the forest through the trees sometimes. Sometimes it becomes too much and I feel bound by all the ties in my life. I am fortunate enough to have His word to turn to in these moments. In Jeremiah 29:11 the Lord says, “for I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” He says it in His word so I believe that it shall be so. It is important to “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Poverbs 3:5-6) I keep reminding myself that when things get rough, and they most certainly will, I don’t need to be anxious about anything but in everything, through prayer with thanksgiving, I need to submit my requests to God. For if one asks, it shall be given. If you seek, you shall find. If you knock, the door shall be open to you (Matthew 7:7-12). Only then will He grant me the type of peace that transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:6-8; Matthew 6:25-34).

I took a self-portrait the other day to mirror how I’ve been feeling and although I’m bound to all my ties, I know that with Him… all things are possible
