Happy Anniversary!

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

Wowzers! Where did the time go?! Since I poured my heart out to you in this post you know exactly how I feel about you Mr. L. You’re the ying to my yang, the peanut butter to my jelly, the night to my day, simply put… I can’t exist without you. We move in perfect balance. Two halves of one whole. I love you my dear. Happy Anniversary!

Even if it was the 999th of July
Even if it was August
Even if it was way down at the bottom of November
Even if it was no place particular in January
I would go on choosing you
And you would go on choosing me
Over and over again

Atlanta “Love Session” Photography | Bridget & Andrew

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

For the past couple of months these two love birds have had to maintain a long distance relationship. However, that has all changed now that Bridget has moved to where her beau, now calls home.  I was fortunate enough to do a “love session” for these two before they embark on another milestone in their relationship. Their love was evident as we walked around the park and snapped some photos. I had a blast photographing you guys and by the end of the session it seemed like we were long lost friends. Best of luck in your future endeavors and if I’m ever in Austin, I’ll be sure to look you guys up!

Had to get a picture of the “bro fist” :-)

Auburn Engagement Photography | Toya & Bruce

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

He says they met at Walmart. “It doesn’t count if I don’t remember it” she responds. She politely corrects him, “We met at Keller Hall at Auburn University.” She explains that she was visiting his roommate when they were “properly” introduced. 2 weeks after their “first” introduction, she can’t figure out why she likes him but… she does. From there, a friendship flourished. They say the best relationships come from great friendships and one January day they put this theory to the test; a relationship bloomed. On her birthday, 4 years later, riding in a hot air ballon, he asks her to be his wife. She knows exactly why she loves him and she says yes.

I drove to Auburn (the place they met) to take my best friend and her fiancee’s engagement photos. I was honored, to say the least. I’m so happy for the two of you and even though I won’t be able to shoot your wedding, I look forward to participating in your special day.

Atlanta Engagement Photography | Aisha + Charles

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

It was a beautiful, February day during Aisha & Charles’s engagement session but, the beauty of the day palled in comparison to the beauty of the love between two wonderful people. Aisha and Charles met through church and have spent years cultivating a love that is evident to anyone that is near them. It was a pleasure  to document their love during their engagement session. There were lots of smiles, laughs, and kisses shared between them as I stood by as a innocent bystander capturing the moments that make life grand. I look forward to shooting their wedding September!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

I love love, the way it looks and feels. People often say that Valentine’s Day isn’t a real holiday but I feel that any day that celebrates love is worthy of a little recognition. So… even though Valentine’s Day isn’t until Monday I decided to do a Valentine’s Day inspired shoot in honor of the holiday. It was a beautiful day in Atlanta last Sunday so I asked my sister to model for me. Even though she was a little under the weather, she was quite the trooper. I think the pictures turned out great! Exactly how I had imagined. What do you guys think?

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I decided to try a little different processing on these two. It gives the picture a different feel. What do you think?

Happy Anniversary My Love

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

Happy anniversary my love. Although the last four years have had it’s share of ups and downs, I couldn’t be more in love in with you.

Thank you…

for being everything I am not,

for making me strong when I feel weak,

for lifting me up when I am down,

for giving me a shoulder to cry on,

for pushing me harder than anyone else,

for telling me when I am wrong,

for loving me in spite of myself.

For telling me I’m beautiful,

for holding my hand when I feel scared,

for being my biggest fan,

for praying with me, for me in times of need

for being you,

for everything.

My heart beats becasue of you.

I love you yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Happy Anniversary!

Atlanta Portrait Photography | Meet Toya

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

Toya and I have been friends for 18 years. I love her like a sister and I was more than thrilled to take pictures of her for her birthday. We’ve been through a lot together over the years from Power Rangers to *Nsync, and now her recent engagement (Congrats!). Even though we’ve changed over the years and we’re finding our own places in the world, we know that when the tears fall or the smile spreads across our face, we’ll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world takes us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we’re not still friends. I love you, I’m proud of you, happy birthday and congratulations! I can’t wait to witness your marriage to your best friend!

Atlanta Wedding: Jo + Tae “I’ve Got the Sweetest Love…” Part 1

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

“Are you nervous?” I asked as she entered the venue on that lovely 10.10.10 day. “No at all, I’m just ready to marry him!” she replied as her face instantly lit up. With that, the mood of the day was set. The love was palpable on Treavon and Johniece’s wedding day and during the ceremony, there was not a dry eye in the house (including mine).

During the reception, as Robin Thicke’s “Sweetest Love” cascaded across the room, the newly minted Mr. & Mrs. shared their first dance. It seem as if they were in their own world and I felt privileged to be able to capture this special moment in their lives. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Elder. I hope your lives are filled with all the joy and happiness that you deserve.

Johniece’s gown came right off the runways of New York.

I’m a true girl, I love shoes! I know my brides can appreciate a good shoe shot.

Happy faces once she stepped into her gown.

Everyone thought the bride looked gorgeous in her dress and I must say that I agree.

Rawr!

I must say I really like this shot of the groom and his groomsmen!

The Gala provided an intimate and romantic setting for the ceremony.

The flower girl was so adorable. She paused every two steps to smile for pictures.

The bride’s mother got emotional during the ceremony.

Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Elder!

Stay tuned for part two!

I’m Doing This for Me

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

I seem to have gotten off track over the last couple months. The drive to “make money” has begun  to taint the passion within me. I’ve been thinking a lot the past couple days as to why I decided to pick up a camera in the first place… I did it for me and it seems as if I’ve forgotten this key fact.

I’ve always liked pictures… taking them, being in them, looking at them but I never dreamed that it would go any further than that. When I bought my first DSLR, I began to think maybe things could be different, maybe I could be a full-time, professional photographer. Out of that spun this insatiable desire to start a business and at the time it seemed that wedding photography was the place to be. Now… don’t get me wrong, I LOVE weddings. If I only took pictures of weddings for the rest of my career I would be perfectly happy. However, more importantly than that, I LOVE LOVE LOVE photography. I eat, sleep, think photography. Seriously, I really do but, like I said, the drive to make money has tainted my dream somewhat. I didn’t pick up a camera in hopes of becoming a wedding photography. I picked up the camera because I wanted to create art. Lately, I find myself wanting to pick up my camera less and less because I’m so concerned about trying to make money from this that I’m not taking pictures. I’m not creating art and that makes me sad.

Perhaps I went about this the wrong way. Maybe I should’ve just been a hobbyist before I turned into a business owner. However, I’m already walking down this path. Therefore, I’ve decided that I’m going to worry less about money and more about photography (at least at this point in my growth). As my father always told me, “Do what you love and the money will follow.” I have to, need to, believe that this is true. I do believe it is true. So starting today I’m making a promise, to myself, to stay in love with photography. To use my camera as an extension of my creative eye. First and foremost I’m an artist. I think it’s high time that I find my way back to that.
