“You Make Me Smile”

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

You make me smile like the sun, fall out of bed
Sing like bird, dizzy in my head
Spin like a record, crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile

I’ve been blessed with one of the most amazing men in the world. He is patient and kind, gentle and sincere, caring and protective, as well as funny. I couldn’t be luckier or happier. He also happens to indulge me whenever I want to try out some new photography technique (he plays the role of model well) Thanks for supporting me and loving me just the way I am… “oh, you make me smile.”

 Love you babe!

Happy Birthday Nyemah!

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

This weekend some friends and I drove some 700 miles for about 11 or so hours to Akron, OH to visit. While I was there, the Swoopes celebrated their daughter’s first birthday and I felt honored to be there to capture this milestone in this little one’s life. Here is a little sneak peak from the party. There will be more coming soon. Until then… Happy Birthday Nyemah! You are loved!

There is Nothing Like a Mother’s Love | Atlanta Portrait Photography

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Michelle Gainey is an event /wedding planner and owner of Lemiga Events. I had the opportunity to capture a few pictures of her and her two daughters during a workshop I went to recently. It was evident that these girls adored their mother and that she was enamored with them as well. There is nothing truly like a mother’s love and these pictures demonstrate a little taste of how much she loves her girls.

Atlanta Family Portraiture | Rankin Family

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

This family was a load of fun to photograph. It was hard to tear Tyler away from his weed waker to read books with mommy and daddy but at the end of the day I was able to walk away with some really nice shots. This family was full of energy and love… so much that it emanated right from them to my camera. I believe I did a good job of capturing the spirit of this family. Hope you enjoy!

The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

I walked out of my door the last couple of mornings and noticed the air feels just a little bit cooler; this is a sure sign that fall is on its way. Even though, I love summer (I’m a summer baby!) it feels good knowing that change is right around the corner. Frankly speaking, the temps this summer have been really brutal so I’m looking forward to the cooler weather. As I’m noticing the change of the seasons I realize that even though things are constantly moving, some things always stay the same.

I’ll be the first to admit that a lot of things have changed in my life since I decided to pick up a camera. I’ve met a lot of new people, travelled to some really cool places, learned some amazing things, and I’ve even learned some things about myself. However, some things haven’t changed and they never will. Most importantly, I have a loving God that continues to remind me everyday just how much He truly loves me, and how utterly blessed I am. I take comfort in the fact that he is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow. Secondly, I have an amazing group of people in my life who support me; they are my biggest cheerleaders. From my family, to my boyfriend, to my friends… everyone continually gives me the love and support I need, even when so much about my life, right now, seems in a perpetual state of flux.

So… when its said “the more things change, the more they stay the same,” I believe, it refers to the fact that even though there is constant changing in our lives, there are some things that will remain the same. As I look forward to the next 6 months in the development of my growth as a photographer/person, I take comfort in my faith and the fact that my support system will be there cheering me on. To my support, you know who you are, I love you all and it’s because of you that I’m able to move forward. All I can say is… thank you…

Creative Live with Jasmine Star

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

“I’d rather you fail at something you love then succeed at something you hate.”

Faced with the decision to stay in law school and be miserable or pursue an unknown career in photography and be happy, Jasmine Star’s husband said the aforementioned to her. Following the positive affirmation from one of the most important people in her life, Jasmine left law school and dove head first into photography. Fast forward four years later and J* has one of the most successful photography businesses in the world. The girl is seriously a rock star in the photography world and to think… she has only been a photographer for 4 years.

So as you may imagine… when I heard that J* was doing an online photography workshop for 5 days, for FREE, I had to jump on the opportunity. The information this women has to offer is invaluable. Therefore, I’ve been sitting in front of my computer, for 5 hours, for the last two days, (and will continue to do so for the next 3 days) soaking up everything. Her topics range from marketing to branding to shooting. Tomorrow the workshop will cover a live wedding as Jasmine shoots it! Jasmine’s story and experience really speaks to me because she was in the exact same place that I’m in right now. It gives me hope that if I have faith in abundance, remain patient and persistent, and constantly get better at my craft that I can be successful at something I really love.

As a person that loves to learn, this opportunity has been right up my alley. At the end of the day… all this benefits me, my business, and my future clients. If you want to be the best, you have to learn from the best…

Until next time, as J* would say, K.I.R – Keep it real!

Drama in Sepia…

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Hola!

I must admit and be completely honest that I wasn’t blown away by these pictures when I took them back in May. They just didn’t really do much for me so I just let them sit on my hard drive never to be seen by anyone. Furthermore, I was really disappointed that I had once again taken what I considered to be a “bad” picture (I am my own worst critic and a bit of a perfectionist).

Well… the other day I was looking through my pictures and I stumbled across these images. I don’t know if it was the time spent away from them or me developing a better eye as a photographer but I saw something amazing in them. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. So I applied my custom sepia toning and marveled at how much I LOVE these pictures now. I love the lighting and the mood that these invoke. There is a certain air of drama to them.

What do you think?

#22 New Things Make Me Giddy!

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

As you may or may not know… I created a list awhile back listing 101 things I wanted to do in 1001 days. Well… I can officially cross another one of those things off.

After months of deliberation I decided that there was no way I could live without it. I have reasoned with myself a million times, weighing the pros and the cons, until one day I realized that there was no reason why I shouldn’t get it. After all… I had told myself that I wanted needed it! So… I clicked the “submit” button and anxiously waited two days, like a kid waiting for Christmas morning, until it arrived on my doorstep. I nearly snatched it out his hands when he brought it to the door. I quickly scrawl some semblance of my name down and slammed the door shut. In hindsight, that was probably a little rude but I couldn’t wait to open it… to marvel at it… to USE it… to call it mine…

Welcome to the family… you have truly made me happy. At least for a couple of days until the newness wears off…

Atlanta Portrait Photography | Meet Sam

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

This person is perhaps the most important person in my life so you can imagine my nervousness in taking pictures of my significant other. However, he proved to be quite photogenic and it brought me great joy to snap pictures of someone that means so much to me. I must admit that these pictures are probably more for me than for him but nonetheless they turned out great and I hope he likes them. Love you babe!
